Finnish Culture and Language Education and a Friendly Community for All Ages

Tervetuloa Suomi-kouluun!

At Toronto Finnish School, we promote and teach Finnish language skills, culture and heritage in Toronto. Besides education, we offer a friendly, active community for local Finnish-Canadian families.

Our school was founded in 1960 and is the oldest Finnish school outside of Finland. We are supported by the parents, the school board and an active community of volunteers.

Community is an essential value at our school; we want everyone to feel welcome and a part of the community. While we embrace the Finnish language, our school's official language is English.

Come Learn With Us

The school year will run from September until June. Our classes meet on Friday’s from 6 - 8 pm and one Saturday a month from 10 am - 1 pm for our fun “Saturday Club” activities. Students are 4-18 years old. For 0-3-year-olds and their parents a Muskari Music Class & Playgroup is organized during school hours.

As well, families can participate in several fun community events throughout the year.

Classes are held at Agricola Finnish Lutheran Church, 25 Old York Mills Rd, North York, Toronto.

We offer virtual courses for kids and adults too.

Come join us!

Language Skills and Culture

Besides Finnish language and cultural education, we provide our students and families with an important link to Finnish culture and heritage.

Our activities are fun and engaging. We include arts and crafts, music and drama. We make friends and build a community.

At the school on school days, we run a Parents’s Social and operate a kiosk where you can buy Finnish candy and baked goods. Our school library has a vast selection of books in Finnish for kids of all ages.

Fun Activities and Events

Our school year includes so much more than just language classes. We have parties and special events together, celebrate Finnish holidays, and have also planned a few outings together. All of this helps to keep up language skills as well as build our Finnish community.

“We couldn’t imagine the local community without the Finnish School.”

— Maija, a parent
